Laser Skin Resurfacing
In Danville, California, locals know they can trust certified physician assistant Elham “Ellie” Zarnegar and Essential Aesthetics to bring out the best in their skin. Laser skin resurfacing is a favorite treatment because it effectively reduces many common aesthetic complaints when even high-end topical products fall short.
Is Laser Skin Resurfacing Right for You?
At Essential Aesthetics, Ellie uses fractional lasers from the Lumenis M22 machine to even, tighten, and improve skin. Common concerns that can be remedied with lasers include:
- Irregularities caused by sun damage, such as lines on the cheeks
- Lip lines and other small lines around the mouth
- Uneven pigmentation, such as brown spots or red blotches
- Scars caused by illness, injury, surgery, or acne
- Stretch marks
- Enlarged pores
- Melasma or “mask of pregnancy”
Our selection of lasers ensures that there’s an effective treatment available to most patients. However, your particular condition or preferences may make you a better candidate for another treatment, such as a chemical peel. During your consultation with Ellie, you explore each of your options in depth to find the one that is most likely to give you the results you want.

We use only Lumenis laser devices, including the M22 and Light Sheer, because we’ve found that they’re simply the best in terms of consistency and efficacy. These lasers work by penetrating the skin to reach the deeper layers, where collagen is formed. The laser energy stimulates the skin to create more of its own collagen while also accelerating the turnover of the outer layers of dull, damaged, or discolored skin.
Depending on the intensity of your laser treatment, Ellie may perform your procedure with the aid of topical anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. You’re fitted with protective eyewear as Ellie prepares your skin for treatment. She applies the laser handpiece to your skin in your desired treatment area and directs the laser energy in short, quick pulses.
Recuperation after laser resurfacing depends on the intensity of the procedure. Some patients may feel comfortable returning to work the following day, while others require more time at home while their skin heals. In any case, Ellie offers you a thorough overview of what you can expect so that you can plan accordingly. Keep in mind that every patient is different. Variations in skin tone, age, and skin condition require a customized approach. Ellie works carefully with you to develop the perfect treatment plan for you.
As it heals, you can expect your skin to appear red or pink and feel warm and tender to the touch, not unlike a bad sunburn. It’s important to protect your skin from the sun during this time and to use any aftercare products exactly as directed. Over the course of several weeks, your skin heals and your results become much more apparent. With good skin care habits, your results can last for many months. To prolong your results, you may wish to see us for occasional touch-up sessions.Back to Top
