Simple, comfortable, and effective, microneedling treatment is one of Danville’s favorite options for versatile skin rejuvenation. At Essential Aesthetics, we use the FDA-approved SkinPen® to stimulate collagen development and encourage the skin to clear away common aesthetic concerns.
Who is a Candidate for Microneedling
If you’re concerned about lines & wrinkles, microneedling could be an ideal solution. Because the SkinPen procedure is minimally invasive and doesn’t use any chemicals, it’s appropriate for many different types of people with varying skin types. SkinPen is most appropriate for treating signs of aging and other conditions, including:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Uneven or rough skin texture
- Certain scars, including stretch marks
SkinPen can be used to treat these concerns on the face as well as on skin throughout the body, including the neck, chest, arms, legs, hands, abdomen, and back.
How Microneedling Treatment Works
SkinPen is a small device that looks a bit like a writing pen. Its tip holds a cluster of sterile needles that perforate the outermost layers of the skin. These perforations, or micro-injuries, activate the body’s natural healing mechanisms and stimulate the development of collagen and elastin. The production of new and stronger collagen and other supportive materials leaves skin smoother and more even-toned.
Our certified physician assistant Elham “Ellie” Zarnegar administers microneedling treatment here in the office. The length of your procedure depends on which areas you’re treating, as well as whether you undergo any complementary services at the same time, such as IPL or dermal fillers. Microneedling treatment is typically brief and doesn’t require anesthesia. Ellie passes the SkinPen over your treatment area. You may experience a prickling sensation during this time. After your procedure, your treated skin may temporarily appear red and inflamed. Within the next several days, you can expect to see your results begin to appear.Back to Top
